Preview - What It Is and What It's Not
Partnering is much more than
an arms'-length contract to provide legal services; it is a distinct style of
business working relationship involving the parties collaborating to achieve a
common vision and enhance each other's bottom line.
Partnering is not something
that works only for large corporate clients and law departments. Similarly, it's
a mistake to think that companies establish partnering arrangements with only
large national or regional law firms. And, you're off track if you believe that
partnering applies only to clients with regularly heavy litigation caseloads.
Also, you might be surprised
to learn that genuine partnering arrangements do not involve arm-twisting maneuvers
by companies to get outside counsel to lower fees, or that partnering does not
equate simply to clients reducing the number of law firms they use. Nor is partnering
about issuing or winning requests for proposals (RFPs). Partnering is not a win-lose
venture. A competitive atmosphere can actually undermine the partnering process.
So, what is does a mutually
beneficial partnering arrangement really involve? The answer requires a little study
on your part, but you'll soon know by taking advantage of this Partnering Fast-Track
guide.
